The Cantina Produttori Cormòns was founded 35 years ago in Cormòns, in the heart of an exceptional wine zone in a centuries-old crossroad where Latin, Slavic and Germanic cultures overlap and coexist.
It seemed the natural spot for the idea of the Vigna del Mondo, or 'Vineyard of the World', to take roots. The project consists of growing, around the premises of the cellar, vines collected from around the world whose fruits are use every year to produce the Vino della Pace (Peace Wine), a symbol of hope and universal harmony.

Almost six hundred different types of vines which come from all five continents, some of which, such as Marzemino, Terrano, Merlot, Sirah and Gamay, are well known to most, while others have obscure names, such as Tulilah, Shurrebe, Pedral, Maizy and Ucelut, which bring to mind faraway lands.
Five hundred people representing 60 nations participated in the first harvest in 1985. Among them there were 70 young people from the Duino, in the province of Trieste chapter of the Collegio del Mondo Unito (United World College).
The 2008 labels, designed by artists Bruno Ceccobelli, Philip Corner and Omar Galliani, and enriched by the verses of poets Sebastiano Grasso, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Saint-John Perse, were presented during the meeting entitled Il Pane della Pace ed il Vino della Pace s'incontrano a Cormòns (Peace Bread and Wine Peace Meet in Cormòns,) held Saturday, September 5, 2009 in the small Friuli town which started this hopeful project many years ago.
After the presentation of the new labels, the most important part of the event, the tasting of the new vintage of the Vino della Pace, took place. |
