The Cantine Soloperto from Manduria releases for the first time ever, a Novello wine, the 2004 Primitivo del Salento IGT. This is a first for thefamily of winemakers that has been in the business for over 40 years. The decision to produce a young wine that pairs well with most dishes was made thanks to the favorable weather that has allowed for exceptional high quality wine this harvest season.

The distinctive metal-looking label of the 1997 Primitivo di Manduria Doc "Patriarca" wine from the Cantine Soloperto, won the first annual "Castello Spagnolo Wine Award", or "Spanish Castle Wine Award". The award is assigned to wines produced in the Apulia wine region and the jury includes mostly journalists. The label was chosen among the 400 entries presented by the various regional winemakers.

New European Union rules for Wine Labels
In May 2002, the European Union passed a law that defines the new rules regulating the information provided on a wine label. Mostly, the law fine-tunes guidelines that were already in use.
An interesting detail for the consumer is that with the new law the producer may add custom information to either the main label or on additional labels and / or neck notes.
